          Thanks,

Honestly McDaniel book is all you really need for the orders and medals. I've seen several other books and they are good but in my eyes, McDaniel is all you need.

If you are an advanced collector or a type/variation collector then you should be looking on the net. There are several good sites...

MonDvor site ( http://www.mondvor.narod.ru/ ) lists all known types and variations of every Soviet award. The only drawback is it's in Russian. But most people should be able to figure out the basics.

Soviet Screwbacks ( http://www.soviet-screwbacks.com/ ) is a great resource for in-depth information on Orders of Alexander Nevsky, Orders of Great Patriotic War and Orders of Red Star. Alex Filer has put together the most complete reference on above orders including the serial number ranges, which mint struck particular S/N, total mintages per factory for particular range. It's both in Russian and English.

              Rusty.

Thanks for the link. I know this dealer but he charges a whopping $30 USD shipping and handling fee for all orders out of the Continental USA. Will check for another dealer.

I agree. MacDaniels book is always open by my side. With the mondvor site, as far as Orders and Medals they are great. What I'm looking for would be the equivalent of the MacD book but for badges of the USSR. I'll check the Avers website.
