Despite some bad reviews I decided to buy this memoir ,it could have been called "memoir of a puny speccy coward" But nevertheless I found it to be a good read .The author doesn t try to dress up what he is and comes across as truthful in his experiences .One downside is his constant moaning about his mothers lack of affection (although some incidents are quite amusing) and his frequent complaints to God about his lot in life .His recollections cover early years , service outside Stalingrad, desertion,time in Dachau ss hospital and being taken captive by the Americans at Dachau. I had to send to Australia to acquire this book ,but feel it was worth it
