""Swords of Hitler's Germany" and "Daggers, Bayonets, and Fighting Knives of Hitler's Germany" by Angolia. Got both same time.

The latter should be used by dealers and sellers to see what an actual mint or "near mint" dagger looks like rather than the crap they give that rating today.

Mark, I still have my copies. I recall most of the ones in the latter book were owned by a Ralph Weggenman (sp?). The man defined "stone-mint" before the word even existed!

Agreed Peter, not to mention all the pages with wasted with empty space in the headgear section for instance, the book could have been printed with 2/3 the amount of pages if laid out properly or better yet had more ruined stuff in it.
Yes all the ruined medals used as examples was enough to make one mad! Ballantine's "Nazi Regalia" is not worth the printed price on the cover of $2.95 even today LOL!

On a side note though I sure would like to have a look at the Das Reich Rottenführer tunic on page ??, (pages were not numbered) I wonder where it wound up? sadly the photos of tunics only show about 1/3-1/2 of the item!

In the early 1960's, we used the TM 43 manual and later the greatly expanded TM-E 30-451 (March 1945). In addition to the R&L dagger book, there was an even earlier effort by Z&M Military Research (Robert Pins).
Pins had a shop on Nassau St, in NYC, where we bought 2 M41 DAK tunics for $15 each (no shoulder straps though).

            Ron--

What is funny is that it never worked the other way around for me back then--ie, buying from dealers!

That reminds me of another book I had in the early days--it was basically a reprint of sections of the TM if I recall correctly:

My very first reference book was Atwood's "The Dagger's and Edged Weapons of Hitler's Germany" which was bought for me by my parents as a Christmas gift in the early 70's, this copy is a mint replacement as my old copy was tatty & tired,

                Regards

                Phil

Hello, here is my first book about 1966. I still use it, as I cant seem to remember those specialty patches. I recall back then I wanted one of every uniform shown and at this point I almost have. Best, Bill
