    The Mascot by Mark Kurzem

I have just finished the book The Mascot by Mark Kurzem, it would have to be one of the best books that I have read this year. The story is gripping and leads the reader on a family journey as they discover their fathers past as a Latvian mascot. I recommend this to every one as must read.

The only down side to the story is it does leave the reader with questions , which the family obviously did not want to write about for the world to know.

    I give it a 8.5/10

I too thought it to be a magnificent book. The Author passed away a few years ago, and since the release of both the documentary, and the novel, there has been some question as to the authenticity of the story. Not sure if the controversy has ever been settled, but I do recall the obit for the Author - you can read it here:

I would recommend the book to most anyone - regardless of any controversy - as I found it be a most intriguing read about a somewhat obscure genre of WW2 history, taking place in Eastern Europe . . .
