      Hi,

      Thank you for this information!
Watched this series on "YouTube" with English subtitles before it was dropped due to contractual problems.
Within days, watched it again on "YouTube", without subtitles, again dropped.
If it is to be shown on UK tv, it will get a UK DVD release (hopefully) and I will be able to watch it again.
I think this is an excellent German produced series which I would be glad to have in my DVD collection, and would view several times.
Many comments and threads on this forum, some with extremely polarized opinions upon this series = which to me shows it gets people thinking!
Dreat TV, cannot wait to watch again and buy the DVD box set!
Never thought this would be broadcast in the UK at all.
I am very happy with this news.

      Best wishes,

      John.

Bought the bluray version in German from amazon.de, I have a region and zone free sony player, it's an outstanding film, watched it twice so far. Another great one is 08/15 but also only in german. There are many great movies out there, but you have to speak german or obviously wait for the subtitled versions, which never really do the films justice, exception being Das Boot.

          Hi,

I wonder when "Generation War" will be aired on the BBC?
No mention of a screening date in the article, my guess would be at Christmas this year.
Then hopefully a subtitled DVD release in the UK.
Would have picked up a German copy on our holidays in Minden this summer, but unfortunately my partner badly broke her upper arm (ouch) three days before we were scheduled to fly.
Lufthansa were very sympathetic = for a 60 Euro "administration fee" we now go in March 2014.
Might have a UK subtitled DVD release before then I believe?

          Best wishes,

          John.

                  Hi,

Looks like the German DVD without subtitles is the best bet at the moment.
No UK BBC release date, no commercial DVD on the market; buy a copy in Germany in March.
Very disappointing for English speaking people, this mini-series would have been very popular and commercial in the English language areas of the world; both USA and UK.

                  John.

                      Hi,

Still no UK airing of this great short series,
Going for the German DVD on my visit to Germany in March/April 2014.
So disappointing, the UK buy up European TV series; then do not release them on UK TV?
                      What a disgrace,

                      Best wishes,

                      john.

I downloaded it a while back and watched it when I was home with the flu.
                        Good show.

Thanks for the heads-up, Bob and Paul. It's also on SBS in Sydney this Sunday night. The DVD was on my Christmas wish list, but my wife couldn't find it anywhere.
