    Documentary on Kursk...

    Hi,

sitting in my hotel room, searching YouTube for something to watch, I came across this BBC Timewatch documentary from 1995, discussing Kursk. I think it is well worth watching. There is even a clip of Heinz Macher talking to camera, during a trip former members of the W-SS made to Kursk...

Watching it now. At 26:05 English journalist comments on how "it's terrible" that German panzers back tracked and grounded the Russians who shot them from the back. What about saying something about what the Russians did? I despise these hypocritical fools who take the higher moral ground without knowing what war is and without knowing what they would've done. Despicable.

A tactic shared by Russian and German alike on the Eastern Front. Journalists aren't history majors, they are Communication Majors so it's not as if he spent 30+ years as some of us have studying WW2.

To be fair you are excluding the Russian veterans own admitted account of killing prisoners outright.

The documentary is well balanced and I remember it because of the German Panzermann who talked of his nightmares of Russia and the heavy smell of the Ukranian soil. I had also forgotten that Knights Cross Winner Heinz Macher was in it.

I liked it . Another reason why I should just cut the cable wires to the TV.
