Hi,

Have just recieved this book through the post, after several years of thinking about buying it.
Written by J.R. Angolia and David Littlejohn, what an excellent reference book!
Slightly disappointed at first, as the photographic illustrations were not in colour (should have read the small print) but probably THE reference work on these organisations!
Anyone with interest in the DAF, KdF, RAD, FAD; female organisations - this is the best reference book.
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone interested in TR Civil Organisations!

Scary to think this book was written thirteen years ago!
No "new" book with further information from any source, no updates on research on these organisations - I think the hobby is in the doldrums at the moment.

I agree with your thoughts--it is an excellent book, and the only one of its kind in the English language.

Unfortunately, the focus has been shifting over the past 20 years away from civil (and even political, albeit to a lesser extent) in favor of the combat-related troops.

Hobby just got too expensive for most to dabble in everything.

This is a nice one, too, and has also been out of print for a # of years.

I just do not forsee many of these books on non-combat organisations being written in the future.....

Hi stonemint!

I agree to a certain extent, but as I have now collected "seriously" for over 10 years; I have definately found that my focus has changed.
I used to collect only Armed Forces items (EK's, War Badges etc) but now find that I am more interested in the social impact 0f the NSDAP on the German civil population.
Most of my family are British, and suffered through the Blitz etc; but nearly all my living family are German; and they also sufferred terrible times towards the end of WW2.
I can see events from both "sides" and both of these are conflicing opinions and experiences.
Very little from WW2 can be in "black and white" - there are many shades of grey to be considered in my opinion.

The Labor book is the first reference book I purchased when I came back into the hobby and is excellent and one I refer to quite often.
I too have slowly moved my collecting focus to other areas of interest, such as social impact and member organisations.
