I brought in 5 copies that arrived yesterday. They are all gone except one so I guess I need to reorder sooner than later. I did have a look at it and I am impressed. I do sell lots of books and sometimes this publisher has not so impressive books but in my opinion they have done a great job on this specific book. Lots of photos and information. I personally can do without the artwork but the modelers like it for that.
Dave
I have decided to order it as it is one particular battle I have an interest in. I have got other books on this subject so hopefully this one will compliment them nicely.
Read George Nipe's 3 books, doubt anything else that is correct has anything new in facts he didn't do 1st.
Glanz and others churn out piles using old incorrect reports copied from various sources. Various mindless photo books of "something, somewhere, unproven" I have no comment because they add zero to my knowledge: I know how to read. Nipe does actual original research with wartime KTBs, Personalakte, etc.
But then 5 volumes on Tiger tank crewmen underwear would probably sell even though the type's impact was minimal. Same with many topics, old collectors laugh at War Merit Cross books, they're junk medals most have bags of. But am sure 3 volumes on the Mother's Cross and a history of plain Party flags will be forthcoming.
Mark, there are usually two parties involved in a battle. Going through the reference list of "Blood, Steel and Myth" reveals that he has not consulted a single Russian archival document. While one must applaud Nipe's research of German archival documents, the aforementioned gap means that his work cannot be the last word on the subject. The forthcoming book by Chris Lawrence will be closer to that as Lawrence has had access to Russian archival documents.

I have Nipes book "Last Victory in Russia" but also have some of those "mindless" photo books "The battle of Kharkov" by Jean Restayn and "Platz der Leibstandarte" by Nipe and Spezzno which I found informative.
Hmmmmmm..... the quote "But then 5 volumes on Tiger tank crewmen underwear would probably sell even though the type's impact was minimal......." certainly opens up a thread all on its own which was done to death
