This is the newest publication just released by Sascha Weber that deals exclusively with this outstanding award for service to all who served the Fatherland on Russian soil in the 'Winter battles' of 1941 through 1942.
I had the pleasure of contributing to this publication & now, after seeing it finished, I change my statement to that 'I had the privilege of contributing to this publication!' Sascha & those who worked on producing this project deserve a strong applause for their workmanship that they invested into this outstanding work.
The cover is a nice thick & strong material that should definitely protect the inner pages for many years of the life of the book. Beautifully printed with a winter scene of the soldiers in a group that may imply the command 'Fall In'. Superimposed over this is an 'Ost' medal (in color & roughly 3 times larger than the original medal itself), with a full-color 'Ost' medal ribbon representation also superimposed & slanted from the center-bottom of the cover up part way to the right-side edge. The entire bound edge is printed with a full-color representation of the ribbon as well.
Just looking at the front cover of this book you can see that there is going to be a nice surprise awaiting you inside once you open it up. You will also get the idea that this is a well-made & well-worth the cost publication that is packed with images of the 'Ost' medal, the award document & photos of the individual wearing this award.
You will be pleasantly surprised! Sascha & his assistants made sure you get to learn about this award by packing this book with well over 150 pages illustrating the “medal” on it's own. Then offers you quite a few pages devoted to the “paper packet” on it's own. For the award document people like myself, you are going to be very pleased when you come upon the “variations” of the award document itself! These “variations” are not the 'field/typed' format I'm talking about, they are the 'printed' versions that are authorized as the permanent form & there are some great looking specimens.
While just discussing the award documents I'm going to jump in here & say my 'Thanks' to a few people who contributed some great award documents for this publication. I hadn't seen these versions & I had wondered how many other styles are there kicking around & thanks to them I found out.
