Looks interesting! I al read with great interest the commentary on print runs. I just purchased a Finnish regimental history about an infantry regiment in the Winter War. The book is hardcover, has 528 pages and measures about 21 c, x 26 cm, i.e. it is substantially larger than the forthcoming 10. Pz. book. Yet, the Finnish book cost was 35 euros plus shipping. Its print run is 1700 copies and it is entirely in Finnish.

So, how come a unit history in Finnish (there are slightly over 5 million people speaking Finnish in the whole world) has a print run 1700 copies and is expected to sell out reasonable quickly while a unit history in English has a substantially lower print run...Are Finnish readers more martial than elsewhere...

That's a good question? I wonder too, why that is the case. I know stackpole, which republishes some of JJF's books, have large print runs at very inexpensive prices. Of course their books are primarily paperback, but they do have hard cover releases as well. JJF uses much more expensive material, I guess to publish the books, other than that I don't really know much about the pricing of different publishers. It is an interesting topic, however...
