re: "regular" postal costs to ship this book to Europe

I investigated the above-captioned cost, predicated on tha actual weight of the book, and found-out it would be $1- dollar MORE to ship this book overseas than the cost of mailing in a medium flat rate priority mail box. This is because the book weighs close to 5 pounds. So the reality remains that anyone in Europe or Asia who wants the book badly enough to pay almost $48- for postage, can buy it.
As to our sarcastic friend from Finland, it is people with attitudes like yours that make me not want to bother with customs forms. I recently sent a copy of my much smaller 'Avenging Eagles' book to an address in Belgium. The name of the street was 18 letters long, and very awkward for a postal employee accustomed to English language words. Current procedure requires these postal clerks to type-in the complete address of every overseas order in their computer, and I literally had to spell the name of that street for her, one letter at a time, which required several minutes for her to get it right, while a line of annoyed customers who were waiting behind us got impatient and angry.
I do not OWE anyone in Europe or anywhere else, to send this book to them and as I stated before, my overseas sales will amount to a relatively miniscule percentage of my total sales. If you don't understand my reasons for feeling ambivalent at best about overseas mailing, too bad for you.

nope don´t understand it, but anyhow who cares for such difficult views. Makes me just wonder as I send so much stuff out from the US worldwide and it really wasn´t difficult to write 2 forms and bring it to a usps office. Question is only if someones want or don´t want to do it. But at least it is now clear you don´t want to send it out from NA as it is to difficult for you and now we know it.

There is also way to write "difficult" words on a letter and give it to the clerk.

If you have to go to the USPS office 150 times in one month and fill in two forms each time, I can understand that this is 'difficult'.
However cant something be worked out with amazone or with a few European book dealers who could ship a few hundred copies out at once, and the sell them in Europe?

Jean, who cares if it take maybe 1, 2 or 3 weeks to get the book.
Bundle the orders at home, organize it. Go once in the week ...

There cannot something worked out as it is to dificult

Hopefully some day such problems and barriers won't exist. Until then I am not sure much is accomplished by blaming the author for costs and limitations out of his control.

                Here are a couple.

I picked up a copy at the Max. I don't really buy the SS uniforms and insignia books, but I truly enjoy this one as I have a thing for cut insignia, and have always been a fan of Mark's objective style of writing.

either pay the required amount or drop it

Any disgruntled Europeans who are still complaining about my attitude
must have me confused with somebody who gives a damn whether they buy the book or not.
I've stated what the ordering options are. So if you want the book, pay the
required amount and be damned glad I bothered with the hassles of sending the book to you.
If you don't like that option, keep your money and keep your opinions to yourself. I don't need your sales and I don't care about your opinions.

                              reference work

I am in the process of reading Mark Bando's book as we converse, it is really a great new reference, detailed , colored pictures of original insignia , large format , progression of insignia in a unit , its all there , he has gotten it RIGHT, I commend his cavalier attitude , this book will sell itself, its certainly like no other reference work published in the past such as Angolia or ??? If you have the opportunity to get it and want to collect SS insignia I would not hesitate . These reference books published under Beavers flag really can give a understanding of the SS that no one else has been able to accomplish . My hat is off to you Mark , you did a great job ...
                              best ,
