"Printed In Germany" On German Book

I picked up a booklet (30-40 pages) called "Mit Kapitänleutnant Prien gegen England" written by Carl Steinhagen. It is written in German, but has also "Printed in Germany" in English. I believe this writing first came out in 1940 to talk about the Scappa Flow attack from the perspective of one of U-47's crew members. So does the fact that it has "printed in Germany" mean that it was a post-war reprint, or is it possible it was design for export outside of Germany since the US wasn't at war at the time?

    Thanks
    Pat

Pre 45 i.m.o. it is common to find items marked "(made in/printed in-) Germany"

I don't think they would allow a "Gegen England" to be printed post war...

As others said, printed during war and prior to war that way. I heard once it was about some international copyright issues.

I think that was normal for the between-wars and WW2 era. It was a guide for customs officers around the world, since English was already widely used as a common language even then. For essentially that same latter reason, the Axis Pact between Germany, Italy and Japan was written in English.

In the moden era, my copy of the Finnish/English book Dritte Nordland, about the Finnish Volunteer Battalion of the Waffen-SS, has a line "printed in Finland" on the copyright page.
