I just watched it over the weekend, via Redbox. It's in Korean, with English subtitles, and runs over two hours .
Supposedly, it is "based upon true events" or some such, but it follows the story of a Korean marathon runner, under the Japanese occupation of Korea, and his nemesis, at least initially, a Japanese marathon runner who ends up as his regimental commander after the Korean is drafted into the Imperial Army circa 1938-39. ( The Japanese is AWFULLY young for a regt. C.O.!!)
First action is against the Red Army in the Nomanhan Incident in Manchuria,; eventually, the Japanese are overwhelmed by Soviet Tanks, and the main characters are taken as POW's to a Soviet work camp, where it seems to be winter 12 months of the year!
Eventually, kindly Uncle Joe forcibly enlists them in the Soviet Army after the German Invasion; they both are eventually captured and then enlist into an OST Battn. in the GERMAN Army!
I won't spoil the ending, so, end of my poor narrative.
It's a real epic, with high production values; first time I ever saw a ( computerized) Russian I-16 Rata onscreen. Lot's of CGI, battle scenes very bloody, but not as much as "Saving Private Ryan".
The action is a bit over the top at times, and the actors chew the scenery a bit. Also, in the German scenes, I don't believe the Heer had time to drape huge swastika banners over buildings in the midst of a battlefield, and the hair length on the main characters, and their battalion C.O. was ludicrously long, but I guess I am apt to pick nits!
Anyway, it's worth watching, and will hold your attention.

The combat scenes were for the most part good with some unique camera techniques. The uniforms and equipment were, I think, decent. I saw it with American accented English dubbing which sounded silly. And yes, the leading actors hair was ridiculous.

"My Way' is defimitely worth viewing, especially via a Redbox rental at a buck and change. Every time I see that title, I think of the Bing Crosby movie of the same name from the 1940's!
But, by ALL means, do NOT, repeat, do NOT rent "Battleforce", currently also on Redbox. It's a real steaming pile, a war movie equivalent of a made for SyFY Channel film ( or worse!).

The movie was great. What I find most enjoyable was that it reflected the point of view of a foreigner in the German Army, in a foreign legion unit. This is a first for me. I loved it.

Geez, I'm getting senile; the title of Der Bingle's movie was " GOING My Way", not "My Way". Apologies for the mistake.

I watched this movie with my husband (Paul R.) and actually enjoyed it. I have this aversion to dubbed movies after living in Japan and seeing far too many American shows dubbed into Japanese.

Although the end didn't set well with me. I'm not sure if that's what happened or if it was dramatized for the movie. One of these days, I'll go look it up.

Wouldn't had the Japanese Officer told the Germans of his real identity and been "interred " in Germany for the duration? And yes they needed a haircut. Nothing irks me more than long hair in a war flick But it was watchable and the battle scenes were pretty good.
