I would expect that the cover illustrated on Amazon (bright blue clouds) is a working draft copy cover, and not the final issue piece.

I am hoping this work will augment the 2 volumes by Prodger.

I've been talking with the author, a friend of mine and just handed over the text and material to the editorial to be printed in the next weeks.

          Regards

The power and potential of a new book should be new interesting stuff, new unknown facts ..
let's hope it's something like that, otherwise it's just another book about the subject.
Creating another book is quite easy, creation a new work is very difficult.

I have no look thru the book and I miss a couple of things for example.

Just one model of N&G googles is not ok

No pictures of visor cap for Luftwaffe aspirant officer.

No picture of kanalhosen in summer version with out heating

                            No tropikal uniforms

Only showing first model of gravity knife

                            No LW machete

                            etc etc

I have this book on my amazon 'Wish-List' and noticed today that it is now listed as 'Currently Unavailable'.

Does anyone know of any UK based book dealers that have this book in stock at all?

                              Regards Richard.

                                Hi Guys,

This weekend I got my copy. I am happy with it.

                                The good:
excellent big pics of the items listed in the book. This IMO is the best pic book on Lw uniforms and equipment available due too size and details of the pics.

The mediocre: flight boots pictured have replaced soles, text is somewhat repetative and sometimes mistaken (where a KC is presented the text says an EK is presented), a lot of the period pics used could have been more exciting and the use of well known period propaganda (Signal) pics is a definite no-no.

The bad: the incompleteness of it - why no tropical stuff?, why do the back and butt chutes but not the breast one?, why only 2 of the 3 Lw flare guns? Why only 1 of the 2 gravity knives? Lack of pages? If so, better not have spend 4 pages on marginally different compasses or 20 introductory pages on the Luftwaffe. Wrong choices were made.

Overall a good book which however could have been better by first of all including more uniforms and equipment and secondly by including more exciting and unknown period pics. What sets it apart from other books are the large detailed pics of what is included which I found especially helpfull with less encountered items such as the parachutes. In this way the book adds value to the books already out there. Definitely a book to recommend to newish Lw collectors but more advanced collectors will either buy it - because, like myself, love staring at Lw stuff even outside their collector rooms and it does not matter that there is not so much new stuff in there (the only new thing for me was a beautifull boxed set of Lw cufflinks) - or not because this book adds to little to their knowledge. For new collectors this is however the best book on the market due to the excellent large size pics.

                                Cheers, W
