Sad, even after treatment there are still signs. Did they ever fully recover?

My mother's uncle was an ambulance driver in North Africa and Italy - you can imagine what he had to go through to retrieve wounded comrades. Post-war he became a drunk and used to wake up screaming (he lived with us in his later years).
No - I cannot believe they ever fully recover.

            Film

i didn't realize that such footage existed.

The film of the wounded is exactly the type of thing that you would't want the folks back home to see.

There is some similar footage here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS1dO0JC2EE

I would be curious to know the opinions of psychiatrists and neurologists regarding the symptoms all these patients are dsplaying, and how they compare to modern PTSD cases, etc.

Possibly quite different today Jean-Loup as the scope of the carnage - although shocking - is diminished in comparison to the compounded horrors of seeing hundreds of your countrymen die in one afternoon - everyday - for weeks on end.
