      I read it when it first came out several years ago and didn't think it was well written or researched. It turned me off in the first few pages when the author claimed his intention was that this would be an objective, unbiased biography, presenting just the facts. Only a few pages later he apparently changed his mind and the sinister adjectives began to appear.
      While historians' opinions of his research, motives, and translations differ, I'm hoping that David Irving will complete the Himmler biography he's had in the works for the last 10+ years--that would be worth reading, I'm sure.

        Thanks Erich! There is one quite negative review on German amazon on the original German edition. From what my poor German allows, I gather the critic noted that there is little actual analysis of Himmler the person.

          You can read most of the book at google books.com, just punch the name & author
