this is a paperback written by stuart crocker(the son -in law of the soldier concerned , ) Theodor ter Host is the youngster who descibes his growing up , service in the rad then parachute division ,and subsequently service in Normandy . evacuated to Guernsey after being wounded he along with 20,000 other German personnel are left stranded and starving there until the surrender. taken to England he has to work as a pow til he settles here !the book was written from tapes of his father-in-law and i enjoyed it very much ,EXCEPT where the author has inserted a couple of pages here and there dramatic accounts of Hitlers activities , i think this detracted from the story of this 17 year old para !
