Stars 5 (out of 5)
Well, I was lucky to of bought Vol 1 & 2 off of someone awhile back....now to find Vol's 3 & 4.
This Volume continues where vol 1 ended with both the German and Soviet airforce building up their air arms after the initial German invasion. The Soviets had a long way to go but were holding their own in certain sectors of the front. The Soviets were also hampered by a strict inflexible command while the German forces were able to move their air fleets to certain sectors that required more planes. There is also a very good descriptions of how the Germans managed to supply the trapped forces around Demyansk and Kholm though the Soviets did not make it easy.
I did like the pilot descriptions on both sides and the research of the authours were able to mention if certain pilots (aces) fought each other and sometimes who was the victor or vanquished. There are also some chapters on where the Soviet airforce held the Germans on a neutral balance or even had the advantage over the Luftwaffe. All the fronts, central-northern-southern are mentioned and who was where.
Well worth the money for this series, and highly recommended.
