I agree about Brotherhood, I watch it once or twice a year at least. I also like Air America, Dogs of War (the greatest movie!), Off Limits plus a few other movies most don't like much but remind me of the old days of my misguided youth.

I've seen Taegugki aka Brotherhood. That's my second choice after Das Boot.

I like the oddball concept movies like Hell in the Pacific and None But the Brave.

Twilight zone had a few good war related skits, I don't remember the one juoneen refers to.
3 that come to mind are:
                        * A USMC squad has a group of Japs pinned in a cave, and the leader is a relentless glory hound, intent on slaughtering the enemy to the last man [actually not a bad quality for a WW2 pacific USMC fighter].
The war is winding down, and the rest of the squad wants to show a little mercy, but he will have none of it. The tables are turned when he suddenly becomes the Jap soldier under siege.

*A guy in a combat zone can tell when someone is about to die in combat by a glow on their face.
His superiors think he is cracking up, so order him shipped to the rear [bet Patton would have bitch smacked him]. He sees the glow in his face looking in a mirror, and sure enough, the jeep taking him to the rear hits a mine and blows up.

*There was one about a SS guy, I presume, meeting belated justice at a camp, don't remember the story line to well.

Since "Band of Brothers" is available on DVD, I consider it to be a movie - and my favorite. I read the book long before seeing the movie, and was surprised at how closely they stuck to the exact events as they really happened (suggest you read "Night Drop" as well).

"Das Boot" would be a very close second - I am torn between the version in German with English subtitles, and the director's cut in English with 60 additional minutes, so I watch both. Of course, the movie "Das Boot" doesn't make complete sense unless you read the book - if you haven't read it, you are truly missing something, because the movie represents 25% of what really happened.

"The Great Escape" is another good movie that makes more sense if you read the book. The book is a riveting true account of POW escape attempts.

"Cross of Iron" was good, and was the first movie that attempted to present WW2 in technically accurate terms - with sparks flying and people actually getting realistically shot (as compared to Eddie Albert in "The Longest Day").

And last but not least, "Memphis Belle" is another movie I have watched 25-30 times. Although I feel there are a few technical details that are inaccurate, it captures an essence of comradery in war that is hard to put into words.

                          And what about "1941"?

And don't get me started on Samurai movies!

Least favorite "Windtalkers". Maybe with modern technology they can remaster it so it is a movie about Navajo Code Talkers instead of a movie about Nicholas Cage being Nicholas Cage. And having an American Indian dressing up as a Japanese soldier strikes me as historically "highly unlikely".

Just saw this one again recently, the episode is titled "Deaths Head Revisited" An ex camp guard goes back to Dachau after 15 or so years for a look around and is greeted by an inmate he killed in the last days before the camp was libereated. The inmate "caretaker" and other ghosts put the ex-guard on trial, find him guilty, and sentence him to a life of insanity. Pretty good one, but I like most of those old Twilight Zone shows.
