US Troops wearing Russian helmets in the Movie Independence Day??

Ok, was watching this film last night...first time I have seen it since its original release in 1996..... One of my bad habits is that I'll always look at military uniforms/equipment in movies and criticise inaccuracies....

It dawned on me that the US Troops wearing Desert Tri-colour camo appeared to be wearing Russian/Soviet steel helmets with the desert camo helmet covers over them..

Unless I had drank too much beer, I was convinced that they were wearing Russian helmets! Cant find a still shot online so you may need to watch the movie yourself.

With the very bad English accents. I hadn't seen that movie since 2000 or so (18 at the time). As you grow older.. the more cheese oozes out of films like this. Still a good watch though on a Sunday afternoon.
