At least the film will then be about the raid rather than PC controvesy of a dogs name accross the papers.

According to surviving members of 617 Sqn, Wg Cdr Gibson's dog was mostly referred to as 'Niggs' or 'Niggsy'.

I guess it would of been too much to carry out the simplest of research with the people who remain to witness those times, rather than bow down to the PC brigade yet again.

The film should recount the events of some very brave and skilled aircrew in undertaking a raid with a weapon never tested in combat, and against a target many thought could not be destroyed. Instead, the high and mighty are more bothered about the name of the Squadron mascot.

I wonder if these same people are aware of exactly how many airmen did not return from the raid. I wonder if their families are concerned about the name of the dog in recounting the event.
