    The Relief Of Belsen

    Hi all,

Has anyone watched the above mentioned film?
It was originally a British Channel 4 TV film, released on DVD in 2008 starring Ian Glen and Jemma Redgrave.
Filmed in quite a surreal way, particularly the night scenes; and unusual due to the fact that survivors of the camp are never seen - except in original newsreel footage which has been incorporated into the film.
A little obscure perhaps, but quite moving and historically accurate.
I visited Bergen-Belsen a few years ago, and this film brought back quite a few memories of that cold and drizzly day with the muffled sound of shells going off at the Bundeswehr tank proving ground across the way.

    Best regards,

    John.

yep this was good if a bit strange , allowing the german army to retreat with full priveliges from their camp opposite Belsen after the camp has been liberated "surreal " but true

      Hello.

The Russian menace was a bigger consideration than told today.

The Belsen film was thought provoking and I think the producers didn't want to use actors to replace real victims. A good point of view.
