Then & Now - the next book

Just in case members don't know, the next Then & Now book is due for release in May and will center on The Battles Of Monte Cassino.
It isn't listed on the website yet but I bought the latest issue of After the Battle today and it is advertised in there. Over 400 pages and more than 1,000 colour & black and white illustrations.
ISBN 9-781870-067737 and priced at £44.95.

                Then & Now

                Hello,
The book sounds great and I will have to get it. Where is the most reasonable place to buy it in the US? Amazon?

                Regards,
                Jody

Jody, Amazon still hasn't got any in stock. And the Then and Now folks don't ship to NA. We have a distributor down East in Canada, but they are crooks. They mark it up 50% and charge ridiculous shipping charges. I will wait for Amazon to get it in stock. On the waiting list ...

As I understand it the release of the book has been slightly delayed due to a challenges and changes with the printing of it.

The release is very close however because I was talking to the distributer here in New Zealand and he said that he is in the process of arranging for the NZ authors to have radio interviews upon the books release.

Our American readers will be pleased to know that when the first trial draft was completed. It was decided that there was plenty on the UK, NZ, Polish, Indian forces and a lot about German FJ or other German forces but no where near enough covering US forces esp. 36 Texas. So the authors were sent to find more on the US plus photos.

The result is one of the best books ever, doing real justice to all who were there at that hell hole of attrition.

My family lost 2 relatives at Cassino so it was always a sad battle for us,

                    Chris

The book can be pre-ordered on Amazon (U.K) with FREE airmail to Australia or N.Z. No need to pay ridiculous mark ups to local suppliers.....

My copy has just arrived and after a brief flick through (work becons so prevents me looking through it in more detail until tonight) it looks to be up to the usual high standard of previous ATB books. Starting with a brief background to the Italian Campaign it then moves on to the evacuation of the monastery treasures before covering the build up to the actual battle with chapters on the US II Corps move up to the Rapido River and the attack of French forces & X Corps in January.
The inclusion of colour photos in the Then & Now shots works well and there are also plenty of colour maps. Judging by the list of units in the Index all sides are well covered.

I ordered my copy through the After The Battle website. It took them 10 days or so to process the order but, as mentioned above, it arrived today.
