    Plough & scatter, WWI memoir

I have just finished this and would recommend it to anyone interested in a well written memoir of WWI. It is based on his diaries and letters and it is by J I Hanson and edited by Alan Wakefield.

He was a signaller with the Royal Field Artillery, and saw action on the western front in 1917 & 1918.

He mentions a number of interesting things, such as his collecting cap badges and attaching them to his belt, also having to abandon a German helmet as he could not take it with him. A lot of other stuff, including a gunner being strapped to the wheel of a gun carriage as punishment, though he was not flogged.

I would highly recomend this book to anyone interested in military history, it is very well written and is full of interesting things. I can't praise it enough.
