There has been a lot of conjecture, concerning Steinhauer & Lueck Knight's Crosses.Especially, as there have been bad ones being sold by a certain German Dealer, which I will deal with on a separate occassion.
I present this S& L Knight's Cross which I bought a few years ago from a truly reputable German dealer. It is a "Text book" example, if you use Harald Geissler as a reference and allow for manufacturer's tolerances. As every Knight's Cross is unique as there are slight differences in the finished product due to hand finishing of each piece.
The weights and measurements are as follows:Height with suspension loop 48,05mm, width 48,05 mm.
Weight: 29,74 gramm with suspension ring.
Iron Centre, Silver frame stamped 800 on back under eyelet. The beading shows signs of silver oxide (frosting) and the suspension loop is stamped 932.The recipient was Hauptmann of Grenadiers
Juergen Koellner, awarded on 4/5/1944.
Pictures of the Knight's Cross described are shown below.
