    Book questions

Hi guys, can someone recommend a place to order some good FJ books? Right now I am looking for Soldat #8 and Red Shines the Sun. Can any one else recommend some other titles? I am looking for some general histories of the FJ's but also good refrences when it comes to the uniforms and equipment issued. I would like to purchase them from 1 source if possible. Thanks Rich

    Hello.
You could also look for the following:
    - JYN's books (Green Devils & Fallschirjaeger in Crete)
    -Kurtz (German Paratroopers)
-Chris McNab (German Paratroopers. A pictorial History...)
-Klaus Peters (Fallschirmrget. 3 Vol 1&2) German and English text

I am sure many members can provide you with many more titles in much more specific areas of research

About the source, I'm not sure if it is appropriate to give specific addresses in the forum, perhaps Eric, John or Willy can clarify this for me?

    All the best
    Yannis

I agree with Jurg! TolleHaus Books is THE place to look first. Greg and his wife are great folks to deal with! They give an automatic 20% discount on every book they sell. Best of all, they pack well, ship fast, and are 100% reliable.

Hi guys, thanks for replying. Tollehaus looks great and I am sure to be spending some money there. Yannis, I saw several of the books that you recomend. Sadly they do not have the first 2 on my list, does any one know of a place that might have both? thanks Rich

              Books

              Hi Fireman,
I purchased Chris Mason's soldat volume 8 at the Soldat FHQ website. Eric Queen's book "Red Shines the Sun" I purchased at the Collector's Guild website, although the book is in the Medals 1 category, at the bottom of the page, not the reference book section.

No FJ library is complete without the standard early references:

-- Die Fallschirmjaeger Chronik 1935-1945 (1983, Erich Busch), the first and still the best unit history reference
                  -- Fallschirmjager (1961, Rudolf Boehmler)
-- Fallschirmjaeger Bildband und Chronik (1971, aka "Boehmler and Haupt")
-- Die Bildchronik der Fallschirmtruppe 1935-1945 (1985, von Roon)

All long out of print and now scarce. You can PM me for a source for these.

                    Fireman,

Aberdeen has both of the books you are looking for. Click on the Uniforms: German section ... SOLDAT Volume 8 is listed as item 24 and goes for $17.00 and Red Shines the Sun is listed as item 125 and goes for $70.00.
