    Das Dritte Reich I-VI

I have pondered purchasing this 8 volume period work (6 vol.'s + 2 extra). My question being is it worth $1,000+? Do those who own them feel they are a worthwhile set (or book). Did you buy the set or build it piece by piece? They seem cool as hell and now I have the hots to get them. Thanks in advance.

We're talking about the Otto Weidinger series of books? I only own one volume of it and I also thought in the beginning that I'd buy them all. The truth is tho I'm not that into 2 SS Das Reich. I think it depends on what you want to read. If you are very much interested in the SS then this might be just the thing for you. It's an extremely detailed unit history (written as if pulled directly from Military after action reports and orders - it's written like "The Taking of such-and such bridge - unit makes first attack at such and such time, orders given to successfully capture intact bridge by such and such time to allow crossing by such and such unit. Little resistance encountered bridge successfully taken with minimal losses. Such and such officer reports success by.."). If I wanted to research or write a book on 2 SS Panzer Div Das Reich this would be just the series to buy. However for those only casually interested in the very specific topic, this series prob shouldn't make their want-to-read list.

The series was published from 1933-1938 with one volume covering each year, plus 2 extra volumes. From what I can tell, it seems to be a yearbook of Germany covering a wide array of topics.

Ok sorry for the confusion. I had thought we were talking about the Das Reich series of books (has multiple volumes as well).
