My friend Ian Gardner and his co-author Roger Day have finally had their book released after many years of putting this project together. For anyone interested in the 101st Airborne Division of WWII, this will be a "must read".
The 3rd battalion of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment had the highest casualty rate of all the 101st battalions participating in the D-Day invasion. Additionally the division considered them as missing in action for a few days after their drop into Normandy, yet they did achieve their objectives.
I have not seen the book yet as it was only released in the UK last Friday, and will not be released until the end of April here in the States. However I have read the original manuscript as well as the edited version, and have seen the maps Ian created and some of the pictures to be included. With Osprey as the publisher, I expect this to be a very nicely done publication.
