Keep on the lookout next month for a new book on German Army Mountain Troops by Wade Krawczyk and Bart Jansen....looks to be a good one:

          Finally got my copy yesterday.

This book is primarily focused on uniforms and some of the personal equipment particular to the Gebirgstruppe, it's richly illustrated with many good qualitiy colour photos showing details of items.
The book also includes several named documents and medals groups, a few of the larger equipment items like pack mule equipment but this is very much secondary to the uniforms focus and is not covered in depth.

I've not read the book cover to cover yet but on the downside there is one thing i'd like to mention and that's the short OOB overview of Mountain divisions at the start of the book. Fair enough this is a book for collectors and not a history book but even so the one page brief OOB is so full of errors it's difficult to know how it could have been gotten so wrong given the abundance of easily accessable information these days. Amongst the many mistakes is this howler for example, a Radfahr-abteilung is quoted as being a 'motorcycle battalion'. As far as this page goes my advice is to get a pen, draw a cross over the page and forget it exists, it is literally that bad.

            Hi Simon,

this page on the OOB overview was added by the editor and was not communicated, so sadly enough we had no say in that.

I just tried to order the book but with the registration it would not take my post code. guess I'll have to call them for ordering it then.

Order it from Amazon in the UK, that would be the easiest.
