I originally thought 11, but it will take more to cover them all. I'll keep going as long as I physically can with the intention of releases at the same regular intervals I have since I've been writing. I know in the past some have done the first or second of a series than stopped, hopefully after 5 volumes released (1 silver, 4 gold) this series has proven to not be that type of project. Likewise I keep my own pace to do my part so as to not have a gap of multiple years between volumes of the series. That always frustrated me as a book reader with any series I bought into. As long as the readership buys and is pleased enough to make the series a worthwhile investment to print, along with my health and that of my publisher not being a problem, progress will be constant.
The unit sequence choice to be covered is mine, partly based on constantly gathering material for ALL of the GC holders and determining which units can be done with an acceptable amount of illustrations at a given point in time. Likewise my interest in individual units plays a part, while at any given time work is done on multiple volumes to determine what is still needed and what units will be next. I'm working in depth on volume 5 now, while some work is already done on volumes 6, 7, and 8, consisting of an approximate 80-100 typed pages file each for those later volumes.
Needed are collectors to contribute material of the topics in each volume. That is obviously not just German Cross holders, though of course photos of any during any service is needed. Non-KC or GC holder regiment and Abteilung commander photos, documents to or signed by GC holders, and divisional Ia photos are needed. In a similar vein, all volumes have included material for the Honor Clasp and Close Combat Clasp in Gold holders for each formation covered so material related to them is also needed.

To date I have only had the time to read lightly over the copy recently recieved and it is definatly the same high standrad of other books in this series.
A friend of mine was reflecting on another series of books which RJ Bender was publishing - a divisionl history which never went beyond one book - much the same thoughts on it as Mark has stated in his last post.
This book like the others will be an instant success based on its content and the standards set by the author and publisher and for the years to come a missing chapter in WW2 history has been written.
Beyond one book as a "work in progress" Mark has illustrated something of the nature of the project he has taken on and the amount of time and effort he has dedicated himself to completing - well into Volume five with a start made on 6,7,8 - its a life times work being compressed into a relatively short time period when you look back to the DK in silver book (2002) and the start of this series in 2003 - a book a year - especially a book researched , illustrated and written to the standards set by MY and RJB represents something special.
Mark has indicated that as long as he can "keep going physically" and that as long as his health and that of the publisher not being a problem progress will be constant.
Buying the book does seem easy when you think of it and I say that as one who has to be careful in what I buy as good books are not inexpensive , but as in most things you pay for what you get and this book and the series have been worth waiting for and investing in - it goes without saying that the author has invested something of himself in each book and in the series - above all time and industry .
A lady once said to me that time is the most valuable thing we are given in life and it should always be spent wisely - Mark Yerger is one who has spent his time well .
To both author and publisher , thank you for a job well done if buying the book is a small mark of support I am glad to have been able to do so for it tuirned out very well.

Of course working constantly is only a part of it, patience is somewhat essential too. I won't "speed write" or be superficial to get books finished faster. I want all the detail and all the amount of data possible for each volume. So far it just seems to generally take about the same time to complete each volume. As seen in those released, they are a bit complicated and dense packed as far as information.
I must admit I somewhat mentally dread getting to the "Wiking" volumes as that division has the most GC holders and so also the most cross reference and other aspects to find, confirm, and elaborate on, compared to most other formations. But that is 2-3 volumes away.

Thanks to those who e-mailed asking to buy signed copies.
But I don't sell copies myself.
Numbered copies can be obtained from the publisher while they last and are signed.
Signed copies to a buyer by name can be ordered from Jack Hatter of Volume Control books. We meet on a regular basis and I can inscribe the book to the buyer personally. His e-mail is:

Mark, you mentioned earlier about "unfinished" volumes and I find this one quite amusing. Bender Publishing's Military Pilot & Aircrew Badges of the World, Volume 1 has a solicitation on the back leaf for information to help complete the planned Volumes 2 and 3 (maybe more, my copy is in storage).
Funny thing is that was over 25 years ago and still no sign of the new volumes. I asked Mr. Bender about this and he said the author lost interest and he checks on their status every year.

I have finished reading Mark's latest book about the SS Kavallerie in his monumental DKiG series. I thought the book was very well written with very readable translations of the original German period documents. As usual, Mark comes through with an abundance of new and interesting photos. My only disappointment was the minimal coverage of SS-Obersturmbannführer Hermann Gadiscke, who was proposed for the DKiG. Therefore, I wrote something about this interesting man here.
