'ZULU' in Hi Def/Blu Ray

Good day,

I came across this link on another forum, it has comparison pictures of the 1963 Zulu film in DVD vs Blu Ray. The difference is astounding - has anybody seen it or any other films in the 'War' genre?

Interesting, has always been one of my favorite movies.
Of course, like all movies, it makes heavy use of poetic license.
In particular, I have heard that the portrayal of Private Hook as a sniveling, conniving shirker was way out of line ,,, Though of course they did rehab his character with feats of bravery later in the movie.
Also, the Zulus paying homage to their fellow warriors at the very end never actually happened.
No doubt there are other inaccuracies, exaggerations and pure fabrications, but that is to be expected in any movie like this.
Bridge over River Kwai was slammed as horribly inaccurate by surviving vets.

The thing that gets me the most about this film, and again, to be expected from a movie of that era, is the complete lack of gore.
Kinda weird to see guys falling all over the place, blown away by musket shot ,, And piles of warrior bodies strewn all over the landscape, and not a drop of blood to be seen anywhere.

Is a great flick though, I have a blue ray player and high def TV, only have 1 blue ray disc.

Thanks for showing this, the Blu-Ray version of "Zulu" looks fantastic. It's amazing how sharp and clear everything is; it looks like they shot it with HD cameras yesterday!

My VHS copy of "Zulu" looks like **** warmed over, the colors are washed out, everything is blurry, sound is horrible. Looks like I'll have to be getting a Blu-Ray player and an HDTV too.thumsbup

I watched Zulu on one of the Sky HD channels last year and it was absolutely unbelievable. Apparently those old Cinemascope movies lend themselves perfectly to HD.

Saw those screen shots and just had to buy it!
Probably my most favourite movie of all time - the hairs stand up when they start to sing Men of Harlech - and I am not even Welsh!

Who would believe Michael Caine was up for the role of Hook originally as he made a superb Bromhead.

Hi all,
went to see this film when it was first released back then; superb!
This is still in my "top twenty" war films.
Watched over sixty times {at least) and still has the power to move me.
A great war movie!
