Doing Research for Battle of Kovel Book

    Hello -
RZM Publishing is working on a book about the Battle of Kovel - does anyone have a copy of this book about the 131st Infantry Division? Wilhelm Blankenhagen - Im Zeichen des Schwertes: Erinnerungen an den Weg der 131. Infanterie Division
If possible, we'd like to get copies of the pages that deal with the division's participation in the relief of Kovel and the battles that followed as the Germans pushed Soviet forces away from the city.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Doug Nash

No luck for the book, but I have on tape a lenghty interview with Karl Nicolussi Leck. If you need it, I will do the translation.

        Nico

Thanks for the kind offer - currently, we have more on Nico that we can profitably use - we have copies of lengthy correspondence between him and an American veteran, plus an account from the Wiking veterans' assoc. that he wrote in 2003. Also, Panzer Aces Vol. 2 has 146 pages of his personal account. What we need are accounts from other members of the Heer and Waffen-SS who were participants, but they are hard to find.
Thanks again - will let you know the status as the project progresses.
        Best regards,
        Doug Nash and Remy Spezzano

          Major Robbins, I suppose. ;-)

I have a photo of Nico, maybe it's not on the bunch that you have:

I just upped it on the website of my books, just follow the link:

Your book on Cherkassy was the best english-language book on the eastern front that I ever read!

            Nico Pt. II

            Lombardi,
Thanks for the kind words - glad that you enjoyed the book. The book on Kowel that we are doing will not be such an ambitious project - it will be primarily told through the use of photos, like RZM's earlier book, "Platz der Leibstandarte." We will tell the story primarily through the photographs, with enough narrative text to provide the historical background and to provide a timeline of the battle. Kowel actually grew into a very large battle, with two German corps and a Soviet Army involved before it sputtered to an end at the beginning of May 1944.
Thanks for sharing the photo of Nico - here's another one.
            Best regards,
            Doug Nash

Any news on this book/project? Seems to be underway for some time now, i thought it was planned for 2011?

                  Kovel book

It's still in the works, but had to be set aside so RZM could finish Kampfraum Arnhem, which I edited. So we'll return to the Kovel Book by late spring/early summer. Will contain lots of unpublished photos & content.
                  Hang in there!
                  Regards,
