Harvest Of Despair: Life & Death In Ukraine Under Nazi Rule

    Hello,
Thinking of buying a newish book - HARVEST OF DESPAIR: LIFE & DEATH IN UKRAINE UNDER NAZI RULE published by Harvard University Press - and was just wondering if any members have already read it and what they thought of it? Thanks.

    I dunno

Stalin starved so many Ukrainians to death I cannot imagine what the Germans could have done, well actually the German Army had a whole lot of sex with Ukrainian Girls. I have met several Ukranians with German last names that were born during the War.

It's very, very odd that they chose to use the phrase "Harvest of Despair" concerning the Ukraine under the Nazis because that phrase has been in use for decades in print and film to describe the Stalin engineered famine that devastated the Ukraine in the late 1920's & early 1930's.

Why would they deliberately obfuscate the term? Famine was not a major issue during the German occupation. The term "Harvest of Despair" would seem to indicate food supply or crop problems.
