I have some questions regarding this book. First off, I do have this book and it is fantastically detailed in the Air War in the beginning of the war on the Eastern Front. The book actually breaks down practically who killed who in the air! Very detailed accounts. I have recently seen that this book is no longer available and I have seen prices over 1000 dollars on Amazon for this book! Is this for real? Is there a demand that would drive that kinda money for this book? I really enjoyed the book and I have also heard that it is not going to be offered again on a reprint.....Just curious if anyone else could chime in about this book. So we could discuss. I hope that I am placing this in the right part of the forum and I am not trying to break any rules. Just curious....

If you do a search for Christer Bergström on Amazon and the internet used book sites, you will see that several new titles on exactly the same subject and time period have recently been published. Also search for author Denis Bernad, and buzz words like Odessa, Barbarossa, etc.

So, the newer works pretty much update and replace BC/RS vol 1. I have all of Christer's books on the air war in Russia, plus dozens more in German and Russian. As a researcher and author on this subject myself, I know I wouldn't pay $1,000 for any book, much less one with outdated information that has now been updated.

Spot on, Mike, I couldn't agree more. Christer was the first to do what many of wanted to do but either didn't know how or lacked the means: penetrate and begin using the resources of the Russian Ministry of Defense Archive in Podolsk. His use of these VVS resources - albeit through Russian surrogates - was nothing short of a historical first and the plowing of new ground.
