Books on WWI Pilots?

Anyone have any book recommendations on WWI Pilots? (no Richtofen)

Emphasis mainly on autobiographies or one with a nice mixture of personal accounts of Allied Pilots.

Arch Whitehouse wrote several good books, "Heroes of the Sunlit Sky " provides many biographies of pilots from England,France,Germany Belgium and the USA.
Having said that, Arch never let the truth get in the way of a good story ( Albert Ball being shot down by a machine gun in a church tower that (according to Whitehouse) Ball would pass by every day to check the time is a good example)
Whitehouse was himself a pilot in WW1 and knew many of the aces personally,and as the book was written in 1967 many were still alive and added input.

"Aces High: The War in the Air Over the Western Front" by Alan Clark. is pretty good as well, with many illustrations and pictures, the detail of the individuals is decent as well

"Who Downed the Aces in WW1" by Norman Frans is pretty good, but be forewarned its all facts, and gets to be dry and difficult to read. however for research its TOPS

Fighting the Flying Circus by Eddie Rickenbacker is certainly a good read. He goes into details about the other pilots in his squadron,as well as his own encounters. worth a look!

"They Fought for the Sky" by Quentin Reynolds is another great read.

For American forces I have "Wings of Honor, American Airmen in World War I" by James J. Sloan, Jr. published by Schiffer Military History. I like the book but have used it mainly to track down names and have not read it front to back.
