      Just finished it. Very good read. I am surprised at the brutality of the soviet troops on their own people that they had just "liberated". Off to a littler lighter read, "The Berkut", highly recommended here as well.

        I'm half way through and can't seem to put in down. Unbelievable what those troops endured and the deprivity of the situation. The Eastern front was a brutal ordeal and this book is a must read if you want to see the German perspective of the battle.

          I just started reading it yesterday and can't put it down! Well written in a day to day diary style which so far I will say is gripping, I can't wait to get back to it!
