    The Berkut, Good Reading!

Just finished a cool book called The Berkut by Joseph Heywood. Fictional story about if Hitler escaped the Bunker and the race to capture him with a VERY excellent ending.

    Chris,

I read this book the first time in 1989 or so. It is one of the best books (in the category of suspense/fictional history/3rd Reich) I have ever read. What really surprises me is that nobody made a film of it!

I can strongly suggest this book. You will be hard pushed to put it down till you are done with it!

      Book

      Dietrich,
Actually, this is the second time I read it. I always pick up stuff I missed the first time around. The first time was several years ago. I too remember thinking how this would make an excellent movie. And at the end to see Hitler in that, oh never mind

I remember reading this myself in 1989/90 (ish), not a bad story in the WWII fiction catagory and I am also a little suprised that Hollywood hasn't attempted a movie.

Worth a read to anyone who does not take the fWWII fiction catagory books too seriously.

        Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

I read it about eight years ago. I especially liked how Hitler ended up living the rest of his days...don't worry, I won't spoil the ending for those of you who haven't read it.

          Great book.

                    Chris,
Had to read Blood Red Snow first then picked up and just finished the Berkut. Really enjoyed it. Although a long read, it was very hard to put down when life's little interruptions happened. I had to read the ending a second time for its full impact. I think it has potential for a good movie but I'm afraid many juicy details would be left out, as with all good books to movies. However, the ending could be so dramatic that it would make the movie worth while. What an ending.
                    Regards, Pete

I read this book years ago. It was the very first that had me torn between "heroes". The end was shocking....but seems to me something that Stalin would at least envision. It was also the first book that had me rooting for a Russian.
