Iron Cross 1939 Vs Iron Time

    Dear All,

It's time to buy a good reference book on EK's. I've used the search facility to trawl through all the old threads and posts regarding both books, but to no avail can't work out which one I should buy ... is one more accurate than the other, I'm predominantly more interested in 1939 EK's rather than other variants. Is picture quality etc better in one than the other. I think I'd prefer to have Gordon Williamsons book as I like his writing style having read many of his books in the past ... but the Iron Time may be better ?

Secondly, does anyone know where I can pick up either book for a "reasonable" price and not the £200+ as quoted on amazon ? I've trawlled through the net and connacted every single seller quoted as having the book listed on google, and as yet - no copies of either anywhere.

Can somebody help me make my mind up ?

    Regards

    Gareth

PS if you've got copy of either you'd like to shift on to me please PM me - I'd be very grateful

I prefer the layout of The Iron Time but both are excellent. The Iron Time can still be had on eBay for around $100.00 US which seems to be FREE with the current exchange rate.

The Iron Time is Iron Cross porn, with beautiful photos of items you just don't see everyday, among them some great cased Imperial items. The Iron Time is a more complete history of the Iron Cross than the Willianson book, but the title should tell you that, as it concentrates on the 1939 series. With the Iron Time you get a mixture of military history, some great interviews and superbe photography. Lots of Imperial content. It's a great book. The Iron Cross of 1939 is more of a hardcore collector book that seems to concentrate on maker marks etc. The photography is mostly black and white, but you get many examples of marked EKs to study. They are both useful books, and I would recommend getting them both.
