I have a question about this book. On pg 32-33 it shows a insulated box, is that actually German?

This book,and it's companion volume on the Allies of WWII, has been on sale in my local Half Price Books for $ 19.95, for some time. I believe I also saw it recently at Barnes & Noble for the same price.
Personally, I was underwhelmed by both books, and even at the discounted price, chose to pass.
