The Restless Conscience - '92 Oscar Nominee - Documentary

I recently viewed the documentary, The Restless Conscience. It tells the story of the resistance movement within Germany during the NSDAP era. To be honest, before a couple of months back, I had never heard of it. Only after reading about the life of Helmuth von Moltke was I made aware of the film.

It was a very moving piece and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was not surprised that it had been nominated for an Academy Award in '92. The documentary contained a number of interviews with some of the surviving co-conspirators of the July 20th plot (as of the 80's) as well as with widows and other surviving family members of those that had been executed or since deceased. Much of the documentary focuses on the life of Helmuth von Moltke, as told by his widow, Freya von Moltke.

As I said, very moving material and a must see.
