    RZM Codes - Original Book

I have recently located a copy of "Handbuch der Reichszeugmeisterei der Nationalsozialistischen Deutschen Arbeiterpartei".

This massive tome, published in 1935 contains a listing of all RZM codes for every imaginable type of product which fell under RZM supervision/control.

There is also a lengthy section of adverts from many well-known manufacturers which in some instances list their RZM codes for the various products they list. I'd be happy to scan some of these and post them here if there is any interest in seeing them.

I realize that many of these codes are known, and that some are available on the internet, however, should any members desire to have codes on items in their collection verified, I'd be happy to look them up for you. Simply reply here or send me a private message/email and I will check the volume for you, and if possible send a scanned image of the entry as well.

Please keep in mind that this was a fairly early listing and that some codes, especially for firms that were assigned codes after 1935, will not be included. Also, it's quite possible that some firms were given different codes later as was the case with LDO numbers, etc.

The advert section is particularly interesting to see just how many firms, large and small, advertize as manufacturers/tailors for SS, SA, NSDAP, HJ, etc, etc...uniforms which would seem to further explain the numerous variations encountered by collectors today!

Anyhow I hope this is of some use to members of the forum, if I can be of assistance please don't hesitate to let me know.

    Good hunting!

Adam--wow! That IS a find. A directory listing all the obscure little makers would be quite interesting and educational.

Post away! The adverts would be fascinating in and of themselves. Rick

      Hi Rick,

I'll try to get some of the adverts scanned over the next few days...there are a lot of them (probably well over 100) from both large (e.g. Steinhauer & Lu"ck, Assmann, etc.) as well as numerous obscure small makers.

This book is in an extremely large format and is several hundred pages long, so it will require some painstaking transcription to provide lists to people. If there is interest I can start doing this and upload lists as I complete them to my website.

In the meantime if anyone has specific codes they would like checked, do let me know and I'll be happy to try to help.

        Hello Adam,
Few days ago I sent you a private message but it seems than you did not receive it.
I was asking you if it was possible to have listing of companies registered as SS suppliers. I don't know if this is available in your book but in 1935 the SS started to have their own contract codes (example Assmann for his belt buckle production had code RZM M4/39 but had RZM 155/xx SS for SS belt buckles (xx been the two last digits of the year of production 1936=39). It is this list of RZM/SS codes I am looking for. I am writing a book on SS belt buckles, but any other information related to the SS can be used as a cross reference or related to the main work (as leather goods). For example, still Assmann, kept the same RZM/SS contract number for his uniform buttons for Allgemeine SS tunics (but had another RZM code (M5/??) for buttons under RZM control). Any other firm, small to large, advertising for SS items is of great informative potential for my work and I will be very glad if you could help me in this way.
As I said in my latest message, I live in Boucherville (Montreal's south bank) and pickup copies of pages if you prefer is not a problem as I understand that typing those information on the web can be very long. Any expense will be of course refunded or paid in advance.
Thank you per advance for your time

          Salut Jean-Pierre,

I didn't get a PM from you on here, although something came through on my email. I had some computer problems for a couple of days and am still catching up on my correspondence so please exuse me for not replying sooner.

I will have a look through the book to see if there is information that is likely to be helpful to you. If there is anything we could meet up in town...or...if you go to the Longeuil Gun Show I usually attend when I can so I could get it to you there. I believe the next show is mid-March.

By the way I joined your website awhile ago but couldn't seem to get to any of the information there. Is it up and running?

          Cheers,

          Adam

              RZM Codes for Edged Weapons

              Hi Adam:

There are still unknown RZM codes for edged weapon manufacturers. Would you be so kind to look up the following in your book: (all of them are for M7)

              120
              188
              121
              235
              807
              1052
              1189
              1196
              1204
              1198

              Thank you!

Due to a rather large number of requests to have RZM codes identified, I've decided to transcribe the entire Handbuch into electronic format. As the book is rather lengthy (several hundred pages) with thousands of individual codes this will be a time consuming effort on my part, however, judging by the interest already shown I think it will prove to be a valuable research tool for the hobby.

I will be submitting the lists, along with copies of the numerous manufactuer/dealer adverts as a reference article. This will make the entire work permanently accessable to all association members.

Considering that I am already rather busy with other projects, not to mention work and life's usual tasks and chores, I'll kindly ask that individual requests be ceased to allow me to complete this project in a more timely fashion. With some patience you will all have access to the entire book, I promise it will be worth the wait.

I will try my best to respond to requests already received, but this will take some time as I am prioritizing the transcription.

Thanks to all that have shown an interest, and for your cooperation!

                Cheers,

                Adam
