    Triumph des Willens

hi...has anybody watched Triumph of the Will and noticed Goring wearing full Army uniform??...anyone have a pic of him like this?...K

I have that on DVD, and I've watched it at least several times for reference purposes about various things. However, I do admit that I've not yet noticed something so seeminly obvious as Goring dressed in full army regalia. So, I guess I'll have to scan through that again and take a look.

How is the visual and sound quality of the film on DVD? Reason I ask is I have it on VHS tape and the quality isn’t very good.

There are several versions available on DVD--the best is the Synapse release IMO. The images are very clear, and the sound is fine as well.

Yes, I definitely agree that the Synapse version is, by far, the best. I own a copy of it myself. It is a digitally-remastered transfer from a 35mm fine grain copy of the film, making it look as good as it ever could have. It also has another 17 minute short film by director Leni Riefenstahl called Day of Freedom. You can watch it in its original German language only (which I prefer), with English subtitles, or with audio commentary by historian Dr. Anthony Santoro. Although I do prefer just the original German language track, it's nice to have all the other options too. The historian's commentary is actually an excellent alternative way to watch it at least once. The commentary is not only very informative, but also told with quite an entertaining sense of humor throughout. It is far from the typical dry narrative you would find on your typical history documentary. I highly recommend this version above anything else that is currently available--especially since some of the older, inferior versions are the same price as the new one!

Chris...I have a VHS edition of "Triumph" and it does suffer from a bad sound track. I have googled trying to find the "Synapse" version of the movie with no success. Could you tell me where I could get a copy?

                Thanks,

                Bob

                  Bob,

You can get a copy on Amazon.com for $29.99. Here's a link directly to the webpage. That's the Synapse DVD special edition, which is the unquestionable best edition:

                  http://www.amazon.com/Triumph-Will-A...2410998&sr=1-1

                  Hope that helps!

P.S. You can even get a used copy for less than that if you want. There's a link to the used copies on the right side of the same webpage.
