Just recieved my copy of "Aguilettes of the Third Reich" from the author personally.

It really is a fantastic book that might well be considered the bible on this particular subject.

Most importantly it is a book that covers most known organisations in ww2 germany and thus is of great interest to the collector of general militaria but also to the specialised collector.

The book starts with the history of the Aguilette, and also the prewar years where they influenced the Third Reich designs of the Aguilette and the Adjudantenschnur. It then covers most of the known organisations (at least those that wore these cords) in detail with both detailed photographs of actual cords but also everything supported by period photographs and regulations.

Yes, indeed. It's a great pity David didn't live to see his latest book in print.

I picked up "Defending the Reich" at the MAX on Saturday. I have not had much of a chance to go through it, but it covers a lot and if it is done to the standard of the authors previous works, we have yet another classic.

There is a big Luftwaffe section in addition to the Luftschutz and Teno type stuff, so you Luft guys might like it as well.

I am assuming you are asking what is covered in the book?
"Defending the Reich" covers units (male, female, kids and foreigners) who served in various units during the 3rd reich era. There is a big Luftwaffe section covering units including flak, search light, Flak towers and Nightfighters to name a few, then there are units such as the Luftschutz and Teno that are pretty well covered w/uniforms and insignia, armbands, awards, etc.

I do not have the book in front of me so I can only name what I have in my limited memory. The book is quite thick and heavy. I think it is quite a addition to my book collection.

                              Super Book......
                              Thanks Stonemint & Ernst-H,

The "Defending the Reich" came it today.........and

WELL - it's a Knock Your Socks Off Book!!!! 600+ pages.

For my Interests, it has 35+ Pages on TENO, with some

of the most magnificent Patches, Ranks, Visors, Sidecaps, etc.

WOW. ..... Best source of TENO Information that I have found,

                              & I have a 100+ Book WW2 Library!!!!........ & growing....

VISORS = YES, it has a lot of Diversity, but it is a one shot, one angle
                              photo of them.

BUT, it makes it up in rarity: I'd never seen before, a:

                              a. White Topped TeNo Officer (2 Examples)
                              b. 'Piped' Coloration TeNo Blue Sidecap.
                              c. 3 Colors of TeNo Sidecaps: Blue - 'Police' Green - Army Gray

Stonemint, You may want to 'look thru' an actual copy at a show before
making your decision - as you KNOW what you want to see in a Photo.

Ernst-H ...... I'll have to look at that Aguillette book! ...... Txs, Dave/dblmed
