While I detest him off screen, I honestly have to say that I like him as an actor. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one... Regardless, I won't have an opinion until I've seen the film.

Yes, I agree. While Tom Cruise isn't one of my favorite people, I agree that his acting is fine. I can also see how he could possibly play Stauffenberg quite well. To tell you the truth, I'm just quite excited that they've actually made a Hollywood size movie about this rather esoteric story (as it is to the average person these days, anyway). If it's a good movie, I won't be bothered by Tom Cruise in the least.

I don't care for Cruise very much but that's not the main problem I have with it. This should have been a German language movie period. Think how good would "Der Untergang" have been had it been in English. Call me a purist but it wouldn't have been nearly as good.
Plus a young German director would have lended a whole different flavor to this. Instead we get the typically Hollywood-esque director of Xmen... Please...
I can't wait to go see it because of the theme. But I'm certainly not holding my breath for this making my day.

Tom Cruise sucks, and has always sucked and the movie sure sucks to! What a poor war movie.

Hate when German soldiers speak English..........

                Cheers

I see TC I think moron jumping on a sofa about his wife in an interview

Should have been an "unknown" actor to disconnect and focus on topic

Valkyrie was probably one of the most accurate war films ever made with a meticulous eye to detail. Almost a documentary. One of the few productions that actually payed attention to their historical advisor (Peter Hoffmann). Far more accurate than the German version "Stauffenberg."

Casting was mostly brilliant with capable actors playing look alike historic alter egos (only Branagh doesn't look like Tresckow). I think Cruise did a good job even though I am not really a fan - mostly because I don't care for the subject matter of his other films.

But I don't care if he jumps on couches.....eats kittens or worships Nanuck the Moose, the guy does a lot of research on this roles and treats the business seriously. If someone is an actor, I judge his acting ability. If I want to know about his private life, I can read the mags at the grocery checkout.

I thought the film was very good, all actors included. They spent more time and effort in "attention to detail" than most other war films I've ever seen. Let's give credit where credit is due.

                        All the best,
                        Mike

The bunch of generals don't look like german generals. They are as "well" dressed as Dragon figures.
A general is supposed to wear a tailor made uniform and not made in China looking one. It doesn't help to be really "in the movie". We are very far from the "Saving Private Ryan quality".

                            Hi,

I thought this movie would be an absolute disaster with Tom Cruise in the lead role, but on viewing the film I was pleasantly surprised!
Not one of the great war movies ever made, but watchable and quite accurate.
Personally speaking, I will watch it again on occasion.

                            Best wishes,

                            John.
