All I can do is cringe, and let out a low moan of despair.

              Don't be so quick to judge . . .

              He Guys!

The photo of TC as Stauffenberg is only a preliminary shot to test the uniform and lighting. They are still casting for this film at Studio Babelsberg.

Our firm, Brandenburg Historica hopes to provide some musical advice and sound clips for this film.

There is an old saying - don't judge a book by it's cover. A lot has gone into this film and the producers hope to do the subject justice.

              Sincerely,

              Diane Schreiber

Well their uniform shop is failing their test shot... if he is supposed to be a general staff officer with the purplish-red stripes on his trousers, where is the matching color on his shoulder boards and cap?

                  Uniforms . . .

                  Hi Bob,

                  Look closely at the photo's.

The uniform TC is wearing does have carmine waffenfarbe on the shoulders boards and cap. The collar stabs are the General Staff Pattern with the serrated litzen on dark blue green which is correct for the period.

Remember - all film costume colors vary from those you will see in the finished film. They have to take into account lighting, film stock and pantone colors.

For example in the original Star Trek series the gold tunic Kirk wore was actually moss green in real life.

Notice in TC isn't wearing any decorations in the test screen shot posted in the web article. von Stauffenberg was highly decorated soldiers and always wore his medals & decorations.

Lets wait to see how this film turns out before we pan it. Tom Cruise is using a lot of his own financing to produce this title which is always risky.

That the German Government is not too happy about this film which says a lot too.

                  Diane

Who will be playing the leading female role? I assume there will be a good-looking woman involved in this movie...

In the spirit of due process, Diane is right. It would be inappropriate to judge this 2008 film before they even have a chance to make it. However, that said, we are all entitled to our skepticism given that TC is financing it and in all probability will star in it. TC leaves a bad taste with many of us. He is the antithesis of a polished actor, he is too much the product of the Hollywood hype machine and too much the product of his own lust for publicity, and he is the calendar boy for the American pop culture that the world loves to hate today. This role screams out for a well-seasoned European actor, but you can damn well bet that the producers and financiers will win out in the end and the role will go to some box office glamour boy like TC who they think can attract an audience.

                        bad feelings

Before U571 came out, I watched the previews online over and over again, trying to figure out how the plot was going to go. Based on the previews, I became convinced the Americans who had stolen the German sub, with the enigma, would have to sink an Allied warship to get the goods home safely.
I was disappointed when that wasn't the case.

When the previews for Flyboys came out. I was excited, despite seeing way too many triplanes, and along the same lines, too many red triplanes. Again I was hugely disappointed. I didn't have the imagination to prepare for how much crap was in that movie. And the cheese! How much cheese can a guy eat! The only thing realistic in Flyboys was that the guy didn't get the girl in the end.

Now this. A guy like Stauffenberg played by the world spokesman for a wacked out phony religion. I can only imagine what they will come up in this film. Serious subjects like this should be played by no-name actors, who won't bring their baggage along with them.

And the suggestion that there is a lead actress. Like, how much romance is going on when you are voluntarily walking a briefcase bomb into Hitler's conference room. The man had a set of stones, but I'm sure he needed them for the mission, not the mistress.

I agree that the they should have casted a no-name actor for the role who would have carried much less baggage than TC. Personally, I would have preferred the entire film to be in native German with English subs just like Downfall. I have very little confidence in this film, so it has much to prove to say the least.

OH well, one lives in hope of things improving, but one realises it isnt going to happen!

                            where are the Count's decorations?

Think of how you'd feel as a German. One of your national heros being played by a wacko poster boy for weird religions. I can already hear the bad Hollywood german accent...
I wonder if Danny DeVito is playing Hitler...
