I'm really frustrated over how out of reach a copy of Axis Pistols is.
After first hearing from Mr Still that it will be reprinted within a year, many other collectors are telling me he's said that before over the years.
The guy is super cool and he even answer's his home phone number that is listed on his book site. But I can't afford the 300 dollars that his book is fetching on ebay and amazon which are the only sources. Lots of dealers are really milking that fact that it's out of print and listing it at 2,000 dollars for an unopened copy. (yes, I said 2,000).
So being really poor since I'm a just starting out history teacher who owe's 24,000 dollars in student loans and a truck loan, AND i have to save up for my first house, I figured the best way to get a copy was to borrow one from the inter-loan library system. You know, where if you want a book that is not in your library, they try to get it for you from others.
guess what? Only One library in the country stocks his book and it's university of Texas. But other frugal collectors must have thought of this already because it's always checked out. The book is only known by collectors so who else would be checking this book out.
So my question is, does anyone know for sure if it's really going to be reprinted or does anyone want to help a broke history teacher who can offer 100 dollars for a copy?
It' so ironic that the book retails for 65.00, I have to wonder, why doesn't a publisher beg him to let them reprint if it's in SUCH HIGH DEMAND?
