To End All Wars (Book and Movie) Review

I read the book and saw the movie To End All Wars.
The movie followed the book in almost every detail.
One point where it is different...Spoiler...Truth is, the American dies when he gets beat at the end.

Very good story of life in a jap POW camp. The book's original title was Through the River Kwai by Ernest Gordon. The book is now called To End All Wars.

The uniforms look good.

A movie much along the line of King Rat but much much better.
A great story of redemption and helping your fellow man during hard times.

A must see for all

I liked seeing the two veterans meet at the end. The Japanese veteran, Takashi Nagase, came to recognize the atrocities by the Japanese when he was captured and forced to deal with the dead. He became a Buddhist monk and has spent his life trying to raise awareness of the atrocities. I belive the other veteran became a religious leader as well. It is a good movie that is more accurate and deals with the atrocities in Japanese POW camps much better than Bridge on the River Kwai.

Yes, the other veteran, Ernest Gordon, became President of Princeton Seminary. He died shortly after the trip and reunion.
The scene where the japs crucify Dusty is also true.

Hi Guys, I watched this film last night on British TV. I had not really heard about it before. I don't think it had been shown before here? It was not screened until after Midnight. I really enjoyed if, if enjoy is the right word for such a powerfull film. I rated it very highly.
