    Japanese WW2 memoirs in English

Hi are there any Japanese WW2 memoirs in English?

    #2
Yes - in haste and I am culling these from memory however Hara's "Japanese Destroyer Captain(?)" is good. He participated in numerous operations in the south Pacific, culminating in the Yamoto suicide sortie (in which he commanded a light cruiser - the Yahagi). Saburo Sakai's memoir "Samurai" is good also (he was, I believe, the third highest Japanese ace of the war). There must be others...

      Thanks for that Mike.
      Any Japanese Infantryman's memoirs?
      Like Iwo Jima etc?

Sorry - not that I can think of (and, God knows, given the survival rate of Japanese infantrymen in combat I'm not surprised). I checked a couple of very good histories (Allen's "Burma" and Frank's "Guadacanal") - and their bibliography is devoid of any reference to Japanese, English language memoirs at the tactical level.
