I'm being very patient over on this side of the pond, yes very patient indeed.
At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

          Gentlemen,
I received my copy of the, "Waffenrock" book earlier this afternoon. It is not only beautiful with superb photographs of incredible uniforms it is loaded with very factual information. The layout is wonderful and very attractive and the overall quality is fabulous. My congratulations and thanks to the authors and to Roger for a super work that will benefit collectors for a long time to come. If you don't have a waffenrock in your uniform collection you better get one ASAP. This book is going to drive the prices on these uniforms way up!
          Sincerely,
          Dick

I received my copy last friday(One of the first numbered 300 copies, signed by both authors). At first I thought the price is somewhat stiff but after I opened the box, I realized that the book had more value than the price.

I spent most of the weekend enjoying this gem. It will be probably the definate reference work on the Waffenrock for decades to come. I only hope that somebody will take trouble to write and publish such a fine book on 'regular' army uniforms!

                  Waffenrock

Thank you for the nice words. Neil and I worked diligently for 3 years from start to finish to get this book published. It's a good thing we didn't know at the beginning what we now know because we most likely never would have started down such a difficult path in the first place. "Ignorance is bliss." But we are happy to say the book does a fine job of exemplifying our vision for the presentation of this subject.

If anyone wishes to contact us about obtaining a copy of the book, PM or email either Neil or me; we have books on hand and will honor the 20% discount for WH Forum members + postage.

For all those who noticed the photo of the army paratrooper in the period photo section, the name indicated in the caption is NOT the name of the paratrooper himself. This is the name of the photographer. I spent some time writing a detailed caption for the photo, explaining this very odd combination (army badge, numbered ciphers, KVK ribbon, 1940 date) but it would seem, according to my conversation with Bender yesterday, that the authors would not allow it. Just an FYI regarding the identity of this man.

I got mine yesterday and was going through it most of the night. An excellent book on par with Prussian Blue by Steven P.

I've had a couple of weeks now to pore over the volume and I must say that I am greatly impressed. As someone else said, the bar has definitely been raised!

I think it is safe to say, that from the points of view of scholarship, text, layout and photography, that this book exceeds what has been produced before.

The hard work of the authors has really paid off. I highly recommend the accompanying CD as well.

Anyone that is even remotely interested in this topic should buy this book.
