A new book on the sinking of the prison ytransport ship "Lisbon Maru" sunk en route to Japan by the American submarine "Grouper". ( Oct. 1942).
At the time of the sinking she had her holds battoned down and the submarine commander had no reason to suspect that she carried POW's.
My father's eldest brother was in one of the holds , he surived the sinking but died 2 years later in a POW camp in Osaka aged 22.
Tony is the author of another book on the fall of Hong Kong entitled " Not the slightest Chance" , needless to say I have a copy on order from the Hong Kong University Press.
Tony has maintained an excellent website which he has updated as he has researched and written both books.
